What a night it was on Tuesday, September 14th! The Clayton-Bradley Academy Blazers were in 4 different locations across Knox and Blount Counties representing 3 different sports in the Middle and High School levels. They came away successful in all areas!
The High School Volleyball team started the night off at home with the spark of beating The Tennessee School For The Deaf for the second time this season. They broke through with the win, for the first time in two weeks, with a score of 3-1, going 25-15, 22-25, 25-13 and 25-11. The win gives them 5 on the season, tying the record for most wins in a season, from last year's team. They still have 8 matches left to play, so you can expect for history to be made as they play the final two weeks. They have homecoming against The Christian Academy Of The Smokies and First Baptist this Friday at 5 and 7. Alumni will be in the house and it will be a fun night as all CBA students that come get free popcorn and a drink!
The Middle School JV Volleyball team got back on the winning side of the scoreboard as well, as they won at Berean. They won in straight sets, 2-0, with scores of 25-13 and 25-20. The win puts them at 4-3 on the season and has them in 5th place, out of 10 teams in the JV Division of The KISL. They have one regular season match remaining on September 24th at Saint John Neumann. They are looking to finish in the top half of the bracket for the tournament the week of September 27th at Apostolic Knoxville.
The Middle School Varsity stayed hot, as they won at Berean as well and moved to 11-0 on the season! They won in straight sets, 2-0, with scores of 25-14 and 25-15. They remain atop Division 2 of the KISL, at 6-0, with three games left overall, and one more divisional game. They have 8th Grade night, to celebrate these seven awesome young ladies who are doing historical things on the court, Tuesday at 6pm against Apostolic Maryville. The Blazers look to finish their historical season against King's Academy on the 23rd and Saint John Neumann on the 24th, both on the road. CBA will host their division tournament the week of September 27th, as they try to win the school's first ever championship, at home.
The Middle School Boys and Girls Cross Country turned in some new personal records and one new girls record time at their Walters State Community College meet. All of the girls beat the previous course record, with 6th grader Claire Bollschweiler setting her 3rd school course record on the year, with a 2 mile time of 17:05!
The Middle School Flag Football team finished off the night with an explosive win, at Berean as well. They blew the Eagles away, with a score of 40-7! That is the second most points ever scored in a CBA game. With great quarterback play and stifling defense, stopping Berean's best player, who was their Quarterback, the Blazers jumped out to a 27-0 halftime lead and never looked back. They were running on all cylinders at such a high rate they were able to get the youngsters some time in the second half. The win moves CBA to 3-2 on the season. They have two regular season games left, at The Episcopal School Of Knoxville on September 20th at 5:15 and back at ESK against Paideia at 5 on September 24th. They will finish off the season at the KISL tournament, hosted by Knoxville Christian and Coach Starkey believes that they can tie or break the school record for wins, at 5. They sit at 4th place right now, out of 8 teams in the division.
