"New Normal" has been a popular phrase recently around the world. For the Middle School Lady Blazer Volleyball team at Clayton-Bradley, they have created that in their own way. They expect a new level of play from themselves. Their offense is something that they have been working on extensively throughout the season, and it shows in how they play. Last night that offensive play helped them get their 6th win in a row. They won 2-0 over Temple Baptist with scores of 25-10 and 25-23.
Their goal every time the ball came over the net was to receive, set and hit. Sure there were the natural scrambles to just get the ball over, but when they got the opportunity it was communicated from teammates, both on and off the floor, as well as coaches to set up the hitters. When it was not accomplished they were not satisfied with their play. When it did happen they celebrated each other. This play is what led them to victory, along with their awesome serving, that no team in the KISL Division 2 has been able to match. Mia, Haylee, Keya and Brylee are firing some hard serves that other teams are having trouble receiving.
Driving the point of "Their New Normal" home are examples like this: After the match phrases such as, "We did not play that well," "Man I played terrible," "Hey I am sorry guys," were thrown around the team circle. Coaches and a couple of their teammates reminded them of the things that they did do well and how far that they have come this season. These young ladies expect the best out of themselves and want it all to finish this great season strong!
The Lady Blazers finish the divisional part of their season at 6-1, in 2nd place in the KISL Division 2. They are 7-2 overall, with 1 match left Thursday night against the Knoxville Ambassadors. The 8th graders wil be recognized after the JV's last divisional match against Apostolic Knoxville prior to the Varsity's regular season match finale.
Go Lady Blazers!
