The Clayton-Bradley Middle School Volleyball JV and Varsity teams continued their undefeated streak, so far in the early season, last night against Saint Joesph's.
The JV team is getting better and better at serving and being able to receive serves and hits. They made it dramatic and took it to the final set, once again, but pulled out the win, improving them to 3-0 on the season in the division.
The Varsity team wanted revenge from last year's loss, which was one of only 3 on the 2020 season for the semifinalists. They dominated the night, winning both games in straight sets of 2-0. Plays were made by everyone that played as this team, that was projected to be good, has really hit their stride in knowing how to play the ball, not only for themselves, but for their teammates. Ellie Etheridge and Haylee Munsey were set up and made some great hits for multiple scores. Nyah Wagner, stepping in for starting setter Brylee Condee, grew up quickly and learned what it meant to play at the starting Varsity level. She had many great hits, serves and sets on the night. The key to the victory was that Saint Joseph's had no answer for 8th Grade Captains Haylee Munsey and Mia Adkins fast serves.
Munsey shared her thoughts on the night, "As a team we hustled hard. We laid it all out there and became very scrappy as the games went on. We stepped up even without a key starter and still pulled out wins against good teams. We kept up the good serving streaks between all of our players. We all cooperated very well learning our rotation with different players in different positions on the court. Nyah did an amazing job coming out and playing for Brylee. She worked hard and had a great game! Also, Mia did a great job setting as well."
The Lady Blazers sit atop the JV and Division 2 standings in the KISL, both at 3-0.
