On Friday, December 3, both Middle School teams traveled to Oak Ridge to face St. Mary's. From the first whistle both teams were determined to make their mark defensively. The girls tallied a 16-6 lead through 3 quarters and then erupted in the 4th with 12 points to seal it, winning the game 28-8. Team captain, 8th grader Mia Adkins had this to say of her squad's performance: "We went into the building with confidence and energy that we've never brought before... we definitely won the aggression battle, but we also won the energy battle." The girls move to 3-2 on the year and will hit the road again to face Webb on Monday, December 6.
For the boy's team, they gave St. Mary's problems early by jumping out to an 18-2 lead in the first quarter driven mainly on their defensive effort. They did not let up the defensive pressure after that, shutting out St. Mary's for the remainder of the game to cap off the 51-2 victory. This marked an all time record for largest margin of victory in school history. Michael DeMarchis led all scorers with 16, his highest point total of the season so far. After the game Michael praised his team's effort: "Almost everyone on the team scored and our defense was outstanding... I'm proud of how all the boys played, and couldn't have asked for a more complete team effort." The boys will face Berean on the road on Monday, December 6.
