The Clayton-Bradley High School Boys Soccer team took the field Tuesday night on the biggest stage that they have played on this season, Gatlinburg-Pittman's turf field that is a part of their football stadium. But The Blazers took center stage and steppedn into the spotlight on this night. Just a few minutes into the first half The Highlanders keeper came out to the left side to kick a ball back to his teammates. The Keeper had gone too far to the left, kicking a bad pass and leaving the net wide open. Lyle Webster was there waiting and took advantage of the bad play and put The Blazers up 1-0. Closer to halfway into the first half, Luke Hutchinson made a great pass to Ian Boghani from the left side to the center of the box, where Boghani made a great stop, turn and kick past the Keeper into the net to give CBA the 2-0 lead. The energy was now completely shifted to the visiting Blazers and their momentum was just beginning to snowball.
CBA continued their great defense and control of the ball, as they got a corner kick on the right side. Nic Bogert made a great kick straight to Lyle Webster on the far side of the box, who made a beautiful hit off of his knee into the left corner of the net. 3-0 Blazers. At this point Gatlinburg-Pittman started to look defeated. Right before the end of the half CBA was charging yet again, where Luke Hutchinson hit one of his infamous headers into the air towards the center of the box. Aiz Dhanani pushed it more to the middle, and there stood the man of the match, Lyle Webster. The Keeper had come up too far due to the high headed ball, so Webster simply kicked it right past him into the net for the 3 goal Hat Trick and giving the Blazers the 4-0 lead.
Halftime was a jubilent one as CBA was celebrating and communicating to each other to stay focused and finish the job. The Highlanders scored 2 goals in the second half, but they fell short in the end due to The Blazers explosive first half and great defense by the back end and Keeper Luke Mancuso.
Webster described his and the team's historic first half, "We started out the game pressed up on their defense. We had worked on this in practice and it was awesome to see it work in game and result in early goals. Nic and Aiz had great cross passes to me that sealed the hat trick. It was awesome to go out and get a hat trick and get a big win at an away game against a much larger school."
