Saturday was the Annual Knoxville Youth Athletic's "Fall Classic" Cross Country Season Kickoff Event at Victor Ashe Park. All of Clayton-Bradley's Cross Country teams, from Elementary, to Middle, to High School competed on what was a wet day. But, the Bobcats and Blazers did well, despite the circumstances. Both Coach Bollschweiler and Coach Campbell were very pleased with their runners.
The High School Girls had their first ever trophy won for finishing in the top 15! Junior Ava Graves finished 14th out of 53 girls in the High School Girls JV race, with a time of 27:43.
The High School Boys Varsity team finished 13th out of 25 teams. Out of 239 runners all of the boys finished in the top 60%. Three finished in the top 100, with Junior Dustin Henderlight coming in 36th at 18:41, Freshman Seth Hales came in 63rd at 19:28 and Lyle Webster came in 85th at 20:13. The rest of the Varsity and Junior Varsity boys did well in their first 5K race of the season.
The Middle School Boys had 7th grader Luke Bacon represent well, coming in the top 30% with a great time of 15:20. The girls had 6th grader Anya Biegalski set a CBA middle school girls course record, coming in at 16:07, good for 57th out of 236 runners. Elise, Meghan, Ali and Claire all came in with times under 20 minutes in their two mile race as well.
The Elementary team all pushed hard to set their times to look to try to beat the rest of the season.
Great way to start. Go CBA!
