Coach Chelsey Harness stepped in to help Coach Redmond, in her Junior year at Maryville College, as the assistant to help the boys high school basketball program get started for the 2017-2019 seasons. She became the first ever Middle School Girl's Head Basketball Coach for the 2018-2019 season. She led the Middle School Lady Blazers to the first ever home basketball win in school history last year and another win on the road in the team's first year. "Chelsey was such a blessing to our athletic program. Being an assistant for high school athletics is never easy, but especially when it is for the opposite gender. She did so with class and professionalism. She was always here to make things fun, yet challenge all of us to be better at the same time. I enjoyed working with her, teaching her some of what I've learned over the years and serving her as her assistant last year. I've never been around a female at her age that knows the game so well. The boys and girls really enjoyed having her as their coach. They are going to miss her and I already am! She has become a good friend and we know that she is going to continue to win at whatever she does and we wish her the best in her future. Chelsey made CBA a better place and helped us lay the foundation for the athletic future. She is a Blazer for life," Coach Redmond said.
Coach Harness is moving on to the next step in her dream of being involved in athletics for her career. "Dear CBA friends, I want to take a moment to let all of you know I will no longer be coaching a CBA. I have accepted a job as Quality Control Coordinator for Student Athlete Development at the University of Tennessee Knoxville during my time of getting my Master's Degree. The past almost 3 years being a part of your school have been nothing but amazing. I have grown, but even better I have watched my players grow. Grow into young men, women and the next generation of leaders. I will miss evey single one of you all. To my girls, I hope all of you strive every single day to be the best person and athlete you can be and never let adversity stand in your way. Coach Redmond, thank you for all the support and encouragement. I know you will lead this school down the road of growth. If there is anything I can ever do for you all please feel free to reach out. Thank you CBA!" Harness declared.
Coach Grant Redmond will take over this year as the Middle School Girl's Head Basketball Coach. Be on the lookout for season info, as the girls start practice October 8th after they get back from Fall Break. It's almost basketball season. Go Lady Blazers!
