The Clayton-Bradley Middle School Soccer team got their first win of the season on Tuesday evening at Blount United Soccer Club. They won over The Christian Academy Of The Smokies by a score of 3-2. CBA dominated time of possession as they controlled the ball, attacking the defense and creating many opportunities to score. The only time that the Bobcats got the ball on the Blazers side of the field the defense was a little too determined to stop them when they got close to the goal and gave two Penalty Kick opportunities that resulted in goals. The young man who was able to finish off of CBA's great ball movement and attacking was Asher Wagner. He had a hat trick of three goals for the match!
Coach Josh Perkey shared his appreciation of his squad, "I am very happy for our team! The effort has been there every game, and in this match it paid off with a win. We picked up loose balls, made runs deep into the defensive third, and kept the opponent's goalkeeper busy the entire match. Congrats to Asher Wagner on his hat-trick! He pushed hard inside the penalty area and found the back of the net three times to lead us to the win. While our backline had a couple of lapses which resulted in uncharacteristic penalty kicks, I was proud of the patience they showed when facing attacks. Elle Etheridge is a stalwart at stopper. Nick Disney, Danny Fields, and Carson Meyers all showed great improvement in positioning and tackling today."
CBA has the back half of their season remaining over the next two weeks before heading to KISL Tournament play.
